Mert Pollat

Mert Pollat went home to be with her Lord and Savior Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at the age of 97.

She was born May 2, 1927, in North Platte, to Mary and Grover Baldwin. She had three brothers and three sisters. She married Joseph L. Pollat and raised one daughter, Wanda Jo Putz. She was a beautiful seamstress and made several dance outfits for her daughter. She loved to ride motorcycles, and helped her husband on his milk route. She cleaned houses and worked at the hospital in North Platte in housekeeping until she retired at the age of 70. 

She also taught Sunday School and Sunbeams at her church, The Salvation Army and worked in its Thrift Store. When she moved to Crete, she became a member of Crete Berean Church. Mert loved people and each year would have a Christmas open house. She hosted Bible studies in her home and helped with VBS. Mert loved her coffee and always had a cup in her hand. She was ornery and loved to tease and be teased.

Survivors include Wanda and Jim Putz and grandchildren, Ryan, Janel and Kelly Putz. Preceding her in death was her great-grandson Jadon Nicholson.

The funeral service was June 29 at the Crete Berean Church.
