Francis Marvin Siedhoff was born June 25, 1941, to Henry and Catherine (Steinauer) Siedhoff.

He graduated from Crete High School in 1959 and went on to Doane College, and graduated with a business degree where he was a member of the Alpha Omega Fraternity. He also attended Milford Tech School for construction. He met Peggy Means after she came back to Crete from X-ray school in Minneapolis and the couple married in February 1965.

He started Siedhoff Construction, Inc., in 1967. His quality was always impeccable and his speed was impressive. In January 1972, they were blessed with Lynn Marie. The love that he and Peg had brimmed to overflowing with their new daughter in their life, and, five years later, Russell Marvin surprised Fran, Peg and Lynn with his arrival. The 1980s were difficult and Francis traveled a lot for work, but, by the mid-1980s, he was back working the local market.

In 1994, Fran was the City of Crete Building Inspector. He figured out pretty fast that a chair in an office wasn’t for him, and went back to framing and general contracting. His son, Russell, joined him for many years of fun at work, learning from each other and becoming great friends. Fran quit framing houses at the age of 71 but continued doing small projects for a few years.

Slowing down as time went on, spending more time with Peg, they enjoyed taking many day trips, and going to see the grandkids. He always enjoyed driving and found it relaxing. Fran gave his time freely to things he found to be important – Cub Scouts, Nebraska Wildlife Federation, city zoning, Hunter Safety Education, to name just a few. On Aug. 22, 2024, he left this earth to become something more and will be missed by all of us here.

Fran is survived by his wife, Peggy; two children, Lynn (Ryan) Rehmer and Russ (Lori) Siedhoff; nine grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, Christopher, Zachary and Elizabeth Rehmer, Whitney, Mallory, Alex Siedhoff and Ethan Cornish; sisters, Marlene Bals, Carol Jones and Jayne Sainz and brother, John Siedhoff.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Catherine Siedhoff; and sister, Lois Heyen.

The funeral service will be Saturday, Aug. 31, at 10:30 a.m. at Kuncl Funeral Home, Crete, with a luncheon to follow at Veterans and Friends. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial. Visitation will be Friday, Aug. 20, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Nebraska Wildlife Federation or to Nebraska Hunter Education. Arrangements by Kuncl Funeral Home.
