The Crete Eagles Club's first annual shoe drive is underway. The shoes and money collected will benefit children in schools in Crete, Wilber, Dorchester and Clatonia who are in need of new shoes but whose families cannot afford to purchase them. The Eagles Club is collecting money and shoes from now until Aug. 17. Check out the article in the Crete News or Wilber Republican on July 24 to learn more.
Crete Public School families are able to obtain a wristband giving free admission to the Wildwood Pool in Crete. Wristbands are limited and able to be picked up beginning at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 23 at the Cardinal Welcome Center.
The Cornerstone Bank (Geneva) Sharks gave up two runs in the seventh to fall 7-6 to SOS July 17. Tyler Due doubled and drove in two, and Chase Myers had two RBIs for Geneva. The Sharks will finish regular season action July 22 at home against York.
The Crete Post 147 juniors will start the Class B state tournament Saturday, July 20, at 10 a.m. against Minden. The tournament is at Chris Frank Field in Valley.
Food Truck Thursday will be at the Crete Public Library today, serving from 4 to 7 p.m. Today will be Crete local, the Crepe Cafe.
The Wilber Jr. Czech Dancers will not practice Monday July 22.
The group will at that time entertain in Crete at Tabitha and the Garden long term facilities. Dancers should be at Tabitha, 1800 East 13th, in full Czech costume by 12:30 p.m. And start dancing at 12:45 p.m.
The group will then go to the Garden, 1405 Hickory Ave., where they will dance at 1:30 p.m. This is a good dress rehearsal as the dancers prepare for activities associated with the 63rd annual Wilber Czech Festival.
Teen Night at the Crete Public Library will bring out your inner artist. Experiment with different materials to bring personal visions to life. Registration is required and the event is for teens ages 12 to 17.
