NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON AN APPLICATION FOR THE COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on September 3rd, 2024, at or soon after 6:00 p.m. in the Crete City Council Chambers, located at 243 East 13th Street, Crete, NE 68333, the City of Crete will hold a public hearing concerning an application to the Nebraska Department of Economic Development for a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG). This grant is available to local governments for community/economic development activities. The City of Crete is requesting $480,000 in CDBG funds for road construction and reconstruction along 21st Street between Norman and Oak Avenue; Oak Avenue between 20th and 21st Street; and Oak Avenue between 21st and 22nd Street. Of the requested $480,000 in CDBG funds, $25,000 will be used for General Administration, $5,000 will be used for Construction Management, and $450,000 will be used for Street Improvements. These funds will be combined with a minimum local, City match of $208,450, for a total grant assisted project cost of $658,450. In addition to the elements to be assisted by grant funds, the project will also include improvements, funded solely by City funds, to the alleys Between 12th & 13th and between Norman and Oak, for $97,140, and will be engaging with JEO Consulting Group to provide engineering services totaling $158,770. In sum, the entire project budget is $944,360. The project will primarily benefit low-to-moderate income individuals on an area basis (LMA), benefitting an estimated 58.60% of the population, or 3,660 persons. No persons, farms, or business, are expected to be displaced as result of these CDBG activities. The grant application will be available for public inspection at City Hall, located at 243 East 13th Street, Crete, NE 68333. All interested parties are invited to attend this public hearing at which time you will have an opportunity to be heard regarding the grant application. Written and oral testimony will also be accepted at the public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024, at or soon after 6:00 p.m. in City Council Chambers located at 243 East 13th Street, Crete, NE 68333.
